For better or worse, Democrats who started their political careers before roughly 2020 have never spent time watching videos on social media - and that includes every Democrat in the Senate. So Cory Booker deserves a lot of credit for getting his dinosaur caucus to start posting videos at all. Obviously Booker and Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren built big audiences during their Presidential campaigns. This year a few of the younger Senators have tried to create serious content - Chris Murphy, Chris Van Hollen, Ruben Gallego, and Brian Schatz come to mind. But you're exactly right that talking directly to voters is extremely risky because they are likely to object to weak Democratic messaging.
The Democrats are incapable of self reflection which is one of the many reasons convenient for their goal of rarely and only if forced beyond their corporate and billionaire handcuffs breaking actually doing anything meaningful for the working class.
Narcissism; it’s a characteristic almost essential to run for office and one that politics only reinforces. “Enough about me, why don’t you talk about me for a while”
Hopefully dems will take a small step towards humility to make new gains and actively listen to constituents- there are so many that can and do do this.
